Wanita is more than a country singer, she is a country song! Raised on the Murray River in Yorta Yorta country, she began singing along to Loretta Lynn and Hank Williams cassettes long before she started school. Wanita always knew she was born to be a country star, and dreamed of performing at the Grand Ole Opry from the moment she learned to strum a guitar and press record.

Her music career has taken her to great heights including a tour of Sweden, and some lessor known dusty tracks as she juggled the demands of motherhood and autism.  With three successful albums under her belt, Wanita finally realized her lifelong dream by recording an album in Nashville Tennessee.

I’m Wanita is a scorching and honest collection of self and friend penned songs, produced by US country legend Billy Yates and recorded in the Larry Beaird Studios.

The album has captured the dichotomy of Wanita’s life and torrid mood swings, her monumental stage presence, her exceptional vocal capacity, and her deep connection with traditional country music. She sings directly to the emotionally undernourished, the disenfranchised and the downtrodden.

I’m Wanita is set to be officially released early 2020, along with a feature length documentary about her life and music.

On this tour, she will be accompanied by a couple of other "wild women", the singer truck driver from Katherine NT Kate Oliver, and the scallywag troubadour of Newcastle Gleny Rae Virus (know for her work with the Junes). The backing band is made up of crack honkytonk musicians Rob Luckey and his Lucky Bastards.

Opening the evening is the incomparable Jackie Marshall showcasing her unique interpretations of 60s folk and blues classics from her new album "Songs from the Start" alongside a care-filled selection of her own well-love tunes. At times intimate, at others infinitely raucous, Marshall's vocal delivery warmth humour and playfulness will captivate you.

CUT AND RUN

Acoustic Blues trailblazer Lloyd Spiegel is pleased to announce the release of his 10th album ‘Cut and Run’ and is headed out on a mammoth Australian tour to get people acquainted with the new tracks.

From the fiery boogie opener ‘Any Second Now’, through to the dark acoustic closing of ‘Old Wounds’, Cut and Run takes the listener on a trip from honest acoustic ballads to searing Blues Rock and captures Spiegel at his best as a vocalist and guitarist while providing some of his best lyrical work to date.

The new album, along with This Time Tomorrow (2017) and last year’s Backroads concludes a trilogy of albums and represents the fruits of an intensely creative time for the Melbourne-based bluesman.

Says Spiegel,

“the last three years I’ve written one album while touring the previous so it’s a natural progression that each group of songs is a response to the last. Cut and Run has a positivity and clarity in it that for me, resolves a great deal of the questions I asked myself on the last two albums. It’s definitely the end of a chapter for me both musically and personally.”

Groovy lead track ‘Track Her Down’ has already received extensive airplay on ABC, Double J, and community stations nationally, hitting number 2 on the AMRAP regional chart and set up a buzz for the new album’s arrival.

The Cut and Run Tour starts in Canada in September and hits Australia mid-October with shows from the Sunny Coast round to Adelaide and across to Western Australia, with Tasmanian dates slated for early next year.

‘Cut and Run’ is available as presale on iTunes from August 13, and instore on September 3

Australians can pre-order the album now through JB Hifi Online

About Lloyd Spiegel

Australian blues musician Lloyd Spiegel isn’t here to change the world, just make it a little more bearable. As Lloyd celebrates his 30th year on tour in 2019, he can’t recall a time before playing guitar. Picking up the instrument at age four, Lloyd played his first professional show at age ten and was touring the east coast of Australia at 12.

By 16 he was on tour in the United States, cutting his teeth as a true travelling blues man. Lloyd’s travels not only honed his craft, earned him a swag of awards and brought him to take counsel with the founding fathers of modern blues - it taught him the most important part of being a blues musician: connecting with everyday people.

Lloyd has toured extensively throughout Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan, viewing himself as a social worker more than anything else – someone to help people forget about their worries for a few hours and put a smile on their face. His contributions to music have earned him myriad accolades, such as Best Artist and Best Album at the Australian Blues Awards and being named as one of Australian Guitar Magazine’s Top 50 Australian guitarists of all time.

He has also supported the likes of Ray Charles, Bob Dylan and Etta James, and sat in with masters of the blues genre such as Brownie McGhee and Luther Allison.

In 2019, Lloyd releases his tenth album ‘Cut And Run’, the final part of an unexpected trilogy about personal redemption Lloyd didn’t even realise he was writing until it was finished. Where previous albums ‘Backroads’ and ‘This Time Tomorrow’ had Lloyd asking questions and begging forgiveness for the sins of his past, on ‘Cut And Run’ he has found the tenacity to face the next chapter of his life.

Since 2004, Lloyd has been the world-wide demonstrator and premier endorsee for Cole Clark Guitars, an Australian company that designs and builds its guitars with Lloyd’s hard-hitting style in mind.

Somewhere between songwriter, social worker and truth-seeker sits Lloyd Spiegel, guitar in hand and a song at the ready. Don’t miss this incredible talent and charismatic personality when Lloyd Spiegel returns to stages around the world.

CARUS THOMPSON LAUNCHES HIS NEW ALBUM

SHAKESPEARE AVENUE LIVE AT THE PIPING HOT CHICKEN SHOP

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 16TH

Carus Thompson  - Shakespeare Avenue Album Launch Tour

Australian songwriter and storyteller Carus Thompson returns with his 7thstudio album Shakespeare Avenue and a national launch tour.

A genuine troubadour, Thompson is one of Australia’s hardest working musicians, touring the world as an independent artist with family in tow, whilst building a loyal fan base over six studio and two live albums.  And with 2017’s Island, the critical plaudits flowed – a WAM Song of the Year, a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition, and high rotation on Double J.

For the recording of Shakespeare Avenue, Thompson moved his family to the South-West of England, to immerse himself in folk traditions and to write and record with a new approach. His narrative, character based emotive songs have long earned him comparisons to Springsteen and Mellencamp, however this time there is also a distinct Richard Thompson, Christy Moore, Dick Gaughan, Anglo-Cetlic Edge.

Part of the lure of England was Thompson’s connection to Folk star Seth Lakeman (who has spent the last two years touring the world with Robert Plant) and his Mercury nominated producer brother Sean Lakeman. These two, alongside Sean’s partner Kathryn Roberts are a “virtual folk dynasty” – highly respected on the international folk scene.

Sean produced Shakespeare Avenue, and the entire trio feature on the record - lending their considerable musicianship and heavyweight folk expertise. The connection with them, together with the move to England has paid dividends, resulting in Thompson’s most artistically direct to date.

A renowned live performer, Thompson will deliver these new songs as well as old over a special two set show, all with the energy and passion that has made him one of Australia’s favourite acoustic artists.
